St. John Properties’ Corporate Headquarters Earns LEED-Gold Certification

Home-Feature-ImageBALTIMORE (March 22, 2012) – The two-story, 71,000 square foot Class “A” office building that is the corporate headquarters for St. John Properties, Inc. has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Fourteen of St. John Properties’ commercial buildings located throughout the Central Maryland region have now earned LEED designation, in recognition of their sustainable design and operational elements resulting in energy and water efficiency.

St. John Properties’ headquarters building is located at 2560 Lord Baltimore Drive in Windsor Corporate Park in Baltimore County. The building’s environmentally sustainable or “green” features include a high-efficiency HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) system, high performance windows, sustainable lavatory fixtures, a white thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roofing system, significant open space and wetland/forest preserves, drought-tolerant landscaping, and low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints, carpets and adhesives. In addition, company recently installed two electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot of the building that are available for use free-of-charge by the general public.

Other buildings in the St. John Properties portfolio that have achieved LEED-certification include Class “A” office buildings in the Maple Lawn Corporate Center in Howard County, Liberty Exchange in Carroll County and a number of projects in The Government and Technology Enterprise (The GATE) in Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County. Sixteen additional St. John Properties projects are in the LEED-certification process.
