St. John Properties, Inc. Promotes Matt Holbrook to Regional Partner

BALTIMORE (July 27, 2011) – St. John Properties, Inc., a full-service real estate development and management company with more than 15 million square feet of space throughout five states, has promoted Matt Holbrook to Regional Partner. The appointment adds additional responsibilities to his former position as Director of Federal Programs for the Baltimore-based firm.

In his new role, Mr. Holbrook will manage and direct the comprehensive development, acquisition, construction, leasing, and asset/property management activities for St. John Properties’ 1.2 million square foot portfolio in Virginia and Maryland’s Frederick and Montgomery Counties. His responsibilities include the identification of new land, acquisitions, property entitlements, establishing and strengthening relationships with the commercial brokerage community, and directing leasing, construction, design and property management functions.

He will continue to function as Director of Federal Programs for the company, which includes day-to-day responsibilities for The Government and Technology Enterprise (The GATE) project, a 416-acre business community located within Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) in Harford County, Maryland. The project, which currently contains nearly 600,000 square feet of space and can accommodate up to two million square feet, is designed to satisfy the ongoing demand of government agencies and contractors who support the various commands on APG.

“Matt has proven to be an extremely integral part of our executive team and his unique understanding of The GATE project is among the primary reasons for its on-going success,” explained Lawrence F. Maykrantz, President of St. John Properties. “We made the strategic decision to leverage Matt’s talents in additional sections of our portfolio to take full advantage of his commercial real estate background and expertise. The goal is to stimulate new development, acquisition and leasing activity in these geographic regions that will bring increased value to the company.”

In addition to the St. John Properties portfolio of 1.2 million square feet of commercial office, R&D and retail space in Frederick, Maryland and Northern Virginia, the company controls more than 250 acres of developable land in the area. According to Maykrantz, the commercial real estate company is aggressively seeking new land acquisition opportunities to supplement and complement this total.

Mr. Holbrook has more than twenty years of experience in the commercial real estate industry and has overseen the acquisition, development, construction, financing or management of more than nine million square feet of office, industrial, retail and residential properties around the country. He was formerly a real estate executive with commercial real estate developer Opus East.

Mr. Holbrook earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University and a Masters in Business Administration from American University. He participates in a number of professional organizations, including NAIOP, Urban Land Institute, Ft. Detrick Alliance and the Army Alliance of Aberdeen.

St. John Properties, Inc., founded in 1971 as MIE Properties, owns and has developed more than 15 million square feet of R&D/flex, warehouse, office and retail space in Maryland, Colorado, Louisiana, Virginia and Wisconsin.
