A natural, plant-based skin care line plans to move its corporate, manufacturing and research and development operations to space near Baltimore-Washington International Airport from San Antonio, Tex., according to the company and St. Johns Properties, which leased the property.

Shankara produces and distributes Ayurvedic products, which refers to whole-body wellness. The products are mostly sold online and in high-end spas.

Company oficials said they wanted an East Coast location near major transportation hubs to make deliveries faster, insuring the integrity of the products. Many employees also already live in the Washington, D.C., area.

The company will move this summer into 8,200 square feet of space in a building at 899 Airport Park Road in the Cromwell Business Park. There initially will be 15 employees with more hiring expected.
